The Abyss Gazes Back

I should not have access to what I accessed this week. I am not going to describe how. What matters is what was in it: a partial cross-reference of birth and hospital records flagged, decades ago, under a classification I don't recognize and can't find defined anywhere else.

Eight names. Eight dates. Eight hospitals across three continents, all flagged within seventy-two hours of birth for reasons the records themselves don't explain.

I have no way to know if these eight are still alive, still findable, or still unaware of whatever it is that made someone flag them before they were a day old. I suspect at least one of the three is true for all eight.

I am going to stop working from home. I don't have a good reason for that sentence. I'm including it anyway.
