Unveiling the Truth

RECORDED: YEAR FIVE

Five years. I want that number on the record before anything else, because I no longer trust myself to be a reliable narrator of my own timeline, and five years is at least a number I can verify against something outside my own head.

Here is what I believe, stated as plainly as I can manage:

The anomaly is real. It is rare — my best estimate, and it is only an estimate, is something on the order of one person in several hundred million. It is neurological, it is genetic, and in the people who carry it, it does not manifest the same way twice. Some regenerate. Some process information at speeds that shouldn't be survivable. A very small number may be able to reach another mind directly. I believe, though I cannot prove it, that in the rarest cases the ceiling isn't cognitive at all — that what's being unlocked is not a better brain but a different relationship to reality itself.

I can no longer do this as one person taking notes in a cabin. This needs a structure. It needs people who can watch without being seen, verify without being believed, and find the eight — and however many more there are — before whatever is arranging their discovery finds a reason to stop waiting.

This is the last entry under my name alone. What comes after this uses a different one.
